A Spook-tacular Time of Year

To catch up:

August - I actually made it to one day of Girls Camp this year (I was in Philadelphia attending a conference the first part of the week). The theme was "As One Fold" and I think our Young Women were very creative in using that theme for their banner (the sheep are holding Books of Mormon). At camp, the girls also taught me how to play a new game - Ninja Attack. Come visit sometime and show you how to play....you won't be able to keep a straight face. :)

The weekend after Girls Camp the youth had a beach trip planned. It was raining at home, but the beach was beautiful. We were not able to swim in the water due to high waves (hurricane coming), but the young men and women kept themselves busy by digging a giant hole and hunting for sea creatures.
Later that same night, we attended the wedding reception of Jair Ruano - his mother babysits Spencer every Friday. The family requested that Spencer wear his tux, so we dressed him up for the party. You can watch Spencer practicing the piano before leaving - can you picture him at Carnegie Hall one day?
September - My birthday was low key this year and I like it that way. Scott and I had a lovely dinner at home and enjoyed a slice of cheesecake. It may not seem like much, but sitting down for dinner at the same time is a big deal to us!
Some days it's so hard to wake Spencer from his afternoon naps - he is almost as much on the go as his parents!
Our big boy after church - where is the baby?
Spencer is our little fruit bat. This picture was taken after he stole my nectarine from my plate. You can see from the little video clip that he REALLy likes his fruit.

In preparation for Halloween, we decided to try on Spencer's adorable Dragon costume (thanks Weston & Catherine!) so he could get used to it. As you can see from the first two pictures and video clip, he is less than thrilled.

Our second attempt to try the costume went much smoother - in fact, he played with his costume on for about 1 hour!

Spencer helped Scott and I spruce up our flower bed the other day. He became one with nature by tasting dirt (first picture) and running around the front yard. It's hard to believe how quickly he is growing and how much he is learning. Right now, Spencer's favorite things to do are: watch Barney or Elmo, read books, sit on your lap, play chase, and eat with a fork at every meal.
